Many of you carry a couple of your favorite lipsticks in your bags, but some may never be used while one will be the most favored. It is likely that the one that isn’t used is because the color does not match or suit your skin tone. You need to find that particular shade that works with your skin tone. Here is a method that you can use to select the correct shade of lipstick according to your skin tone:
Identify your undertone
First, you need to find your skin undertone, whether it is pink and yellow. Yellow is warm and pink is cool, and knowing your skin undertone is enormously helpful to make the lipstick look best on you. The best way to identify your skin’s undertone is to glance at your wrist veins. If the veins look green, you have a warm yellow undertone and if they look green and blue you are lucky to have a neutral skin tone – equal pink and yellow tones, and you can wear any colored lipstick. If they look blue then you will need to wear grays, whites, blues because you’ve got pink undertones.
Keep a piece of gold and silver jewelry against your face, check which looks better. Cool pink tones are better with silver jewelry, while yellow skin looks better with gold.
Know which shade works
You need to pay attention to your undertone to choose a lipstick. Yellow undertones need warm colors and pink undertones; you need to look for shades in blue or purple tones. Everyone is advised to avoid pale lipstick, ashy, and gray they make the skin look sick and pale, and they are unflattering.
Check your skin tone
The best way to make the process simple is to stick to shades which suit olive, fair and darker skin tones.
- Olive is neutral and you cannot go wrong with it. Choose nude, red, orange, and pink shades they will look good on you. Check out what you are wearing and then decide your lip shade.
- Fair-skinned people can use reds and deep colors and makeup can be fun and yet you will look fantastic. Avoid light colors as too much yellow will make you look washed out.
- Deep or dark shades like reds, deep plums, and berries look fantastic. Avoid anything too pale or too light. Deeper shades look very flattering. But you can also choose a color that you love and flatters you.
Red hair and fair skin look best with coral/peach lip tone. With the new shades and textures, it is easy to pull off plum and pink shades. The sheer lip color can be built upon avoiding nude and using a lipstick with a slight flush. Dark skin and dark hair should go for shades of blue and plum balance the dark hair. You need to keep away from grays if there is an olive shade to your skin.
